Places of Interest in Des Plaines
One of the greatest places the suburb has to visit is the Des Plaines Forest Preserve. The Des Plaines River Trail and Greenway protects land along more than 85 percent of the river in Lake County, providing wildlife habitat, natural flood protection and outdoor recreation opportunities.
Des Plaines Public Library, located at 1501 Ellinwood Street, is a great place for a quiet afternoon. Library hours are 9 am to 9 pm—Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm—Saturday, 1 to 5 pm—Sunday.
Likely the most famous attraction in the suburb is the McDonald’s Museum. The McDonald’s #1 Store Museum, also known as the McDonald’s Store Museum, is housed in a replica of the former McDonald’s restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois opened by Ray Kroc in April 1955. The company usually refers to this as The Original McDonald’s, although it is not the first McDonald’s restaurant, but the ninth; the first was opened by Dick and Mac McDonald in San Bernardino, California, in 1940, while the oldest McDonald’s still in operation is the third one built, in Downey, California, which opened in 1953.

We have taken several limousine services over the years, and Echo Limousine is one of the best. They were very professional, arrived early for pickup going to O'Hare, and very prompt on our return trip home from O'Hare. The drivers were pleasant, as well as professional, and the Town Car was very clean."— Jay G. - South Holland, ILRead All Testimonials
