Interesting Locations in the Suburb of Bolingbrook

There is more to Bolingbrook that meets the eye. It has an award winning park district which opened in 1970 with volunteer labor. The park is composed of several woodlands and community centers which includes an aquatic complex and an indoor and outdoor complex. The park district caught attention in 1982 when it opened the first ever indoor wave pool in the country. It is a haven for ice skating fans as when the wave pool was closed in 1996, it was converted into an ice skating arena.

Inside the park district are two golf courses; the 9-hole Boughton Ridge Golf Course and a 18-hole municipal facility. There are also several golf courses near Bolingbrook such as the ones in Naperbrook, Springbrook, Naperville and Wedgewood, which are all less than an hour away from the village.

Despite being a small but humble village, Bolingbrook has a small, non-commercial international airport with an estimated 70,000 landings every year.  In 1989, the Clow International Airport was awarded as the best public airport in Illinois.

Aviation lovers can visit the Bolingbrook Aviation Museum which opened in 2004. The museum is housed inside a converted old hangar and is staffed by volunteers.
