Football fans visiting Chicago inevitably want to know two things: where can I get the best deep-dish pizza and what’s the best way to Soldier Field? Travelers with tickets to a Chicago Bears game have a few ways to get to the stadium, with many opting for the safety, convenience, and reliability of a car service.
Public Transit
Within Chicago’s city limits, fans can take the Soldier Field Express bus, CTA #128. It picks up passengers at both Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station. Another option is the #130 bus, which drops off passengers just a short walk from Soldier Field at the Museum Campus. Those who prefer the elevated train (or “el,” as the locals call it) can take either the orange, red, or green line, getting off at the Roosevelt Station stop and walking approximately 15 minutes to the stadium.
Water Taxi
Navy Pier is a popular place for tourists to visit. It is also a pickup point for a “water taxi” service provided by sightseeing companies, which offers direct access to the Museum Campus via boat. Keep in mind that this option stops running at 8 p.m. during the summer and at 6:30 p.m. after Labor Day. Call ahead to schedule services, especially since the boats don’t run in inclement weather.
Rental Car
Some tourists prefer to rent a car to get around Chicago, and should be aware of the parking options at Soldier Field. Most of the parking areas in the Museum Campus are only available to Bears season ticket holders. Public parking garages are typically a mile or so away from the stadium. Depending on the distance, prices range from about $15 to as much as $85, with the average lot space costing about $35 for the duration of the game.
Car Service
Hiring a car ahead of time provides peace of mind by eliminating many of the hassles associated with other methods of traveling to the stadium. Drop-off is allowed at the Lake Shore Drive turnaround at McFetridge Drive, the staging area at 11th Street and Michigan Avenue, and the 18th Street northbound entrance ramp.
